2021 TR North Wrestling
The Mariners were hit hard by graduation, with more than half of the starting lineup from the 2-time defending A-South Champions moving on, including the program's all-time wins leader, 2020 State Champion Nick Boggiano.
The big name returning for North is senior John O'Donnell. The Rutgers-commit was a Region & District Champion last season, and should be one of the top heavyweights in the state this year. He'll provide a veteran presence for North as they break in a large number of new starters in the upperweights.
24-match winner Jake Rosenthal, a junior, was a runner-up at Districts last season. He's the lone returning starter in the middleweights. There's a good number of upperclassmen competing for spots here, including juniors Lucas Ioviono and Ryan Wynn, who saw plenty of action last season, and will be looking to step up in 2021 with expanded roles.
Senior Alex Danelson and junior Cole Anderson are back down low, and will be the anchors in the lowerweights for the Mariners. Expect to see some freshmen crack the lineup down here, including Joe Dolci and Zach Kerico.
This will definitely be a different looking team for North this season, as that loaded senior class has departed. Those that remain, and the newcomers, are putting in the work and although the A-South schedule will be it's typical tough slate, this team could be better than people might think, despite all those losses to graduation.
